Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/4 c
- oil - 1 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- nuts - 1 item
- powdered sugar - 2 c
- sifted flour - 5 c
- canned milk - 1/4 c
- Mix together the remaining ingredients and add to flour mixture
- a little milk - 1 item
How to make cherry squares:
Sift together the first 5 ingredients; add oil and mix as you would pie crust. Mix together the remaining ingredients and add to flour mixture. Divide dough in half. Roll between wax paper. Use large cookie sheet (18 x 12). Spread bottom layer with 2 cans of cherry pie filling. Roll top the same as bottom and put over cherry filling. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.Frosting:2 heaping Tbsp. butter or oleo2 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla a little milk nuts Cream butter with sugar, vanilla and a little milk to spread.
