  • sticks butter - 2 item
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • sugar - 3 c
  • large eggs - 6 item
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • maraschino cherry juice - 1/4 c
  • cake flour
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • jar maraschino cherries use half in the cake and half in the icing - 10 oz
  • Add eggs, one at a time
  • stick margarine - 1/2 item
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • remaining chopped maraschino cherries - 1 item
  • coconut - 1/2 c

How to make cherry pound cake:

Blend shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Alternate cake flour and liquids until well blended. Last fold in chopped cherries. Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours in a tube pan.Frosting:1 (8 oz.) cream cheese1/2 stick margarine1 box confectioners sugar1/2 c. chopped nuts remaining chopped maraschino cherries1/2 c. coconut3/4 tsp. vanilla Cream butter and cream cheese. Add other ingredients and mix well. Spread over cake.
