Cherry-nut slices



  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • margarine, softened - 1 c
  • powdered sugar - 1 c
  • pecan halves - 1 c
  • candied cherries, halved - 2 c

How to make cherry-nut slices:

Cream the butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour slowly, mixing well. Stir in nuts and cherries. Chill. Divide dough into 3 parts. Shape into rolls 10-inches long. Wrap in wax paper sprinkled with powdered sugar. Chill 3 hours or until firm. Cut into 1/8-inch slices. Place on ungreased sheet 1-inch apart. Bake at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are slightly brown. Do not overbake.
