Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- sour cream - 1 c
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- large eggs - 2 item
- sliced almonds - 1/2 c
- cherry pie filling - 1 c
How to make cherry almond coffee cake:
Mix the butter or margarine until creamy. Add sugar and mix until fluffy. Mix in baking powder, baking soda, salt, vanilla, almond extract and sour cream. Add flour.Grease an 8-inch or 9-inch spring-form pan. Spoon half the batter into the pan. Pour half the cherry filling over the batter. Take a knife or spatula and swirl through the batter. Spoon the rest of the batter evenly over the top. Spoon on the remaining cherry filling. Don't swirl through this. Sprinkle sliced almonds evenly over the top. Press almonds lightly. Bake at 350° for 60 to 65 minutes.
