  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • butter - 1/4 lb
  • grated sharp Cheddar cheese - 1/2 lb
  • dry onion soup mix - 1/2 pkg

How to make cheese wafers:

Mix butter and cheese at room temperature. Add balance of ingredients and mix. Shape into sausage shaped roll, about 2-inches in diameter. Wrap in wax paper and chill. You can freeze at this point. Slice 1/4-inch thick slices (as for icebox cookies). Bake in 375° oven on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields about 40 wafers.
