Cheese sticks
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cold water - 1/3 c
- baking powder
- sifted all-purpose flour - 1 c
- shredded sharp Cheddar cheese - 1/2 c
How to make cheese sticks:
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into medium bowl. Cut in butter or margarine with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Add cheese. Toss until well blended. Sprinkle water over mixture and mix lightly with fork until pastry holds together and leaves the side of the bowl clean. Roll on a floured surface into a 12 x 10-inch rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise; then cut each half crosswise into 1/2-inch strips. Lift strips one at a time, twist and place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool before serving. Makes 4 dozen.Recipe categories: Eggs/dairy, Appetizers, Cheese.
