Cheddar chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter
- water - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- diced celery - 1/2 c
- onion - 1/4 c
- diced carrots - 1/2 c
- Cheddar cheese, grated - 2 c
- diced potatoes - 2 c
- cubed ham - 1 c
How to make cheddar chowder:
White Sauce:1/4 c. butter1/4 c. flour2 c. milk2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated1 c. cubed ham Combine water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper in a large kettle. Boil 10 to 12 minutes.White Sauce: Meanwhile, in small saucepan, make white sauce by melting the butter. Add flour and stir until smooth (about 1 minute). Slowly add milk; cook until thickened. Add grated cheese to White Sauce; stir until melted. Add White Sauce and cubed ham to vegetables that have not been drained. Heat through. Makes 6 servings.
