Ingredients/Components

  • flour - 1/4 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • water - 2 c
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
  • diced celery - 1/2 c
  • diced carrots - 1/2 c
  • diced potatoes - 2 c
  • cubed ham - 2 c

How to make cheddar chowder:

Combine water and vegetables with salt and pepper in a large pot. Boil 10 to 12 minutes. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and stir until smooth. Slowly add milk and cook until thickened. Add cheese; stir until melted. Add sauce and ham to undrained vegetables. Heat through and serve.
