Cheddar chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter
- water - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- Cheddar cheese, grated - 2 c
- diced potatoes - 2 c
- cubed ham - 1 c
- diced carrots and celery - 1/2 c
How to make cheddar chowder:
White Sauce:1/4 c. butter1/4 c. flour2 c. milk2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated1 c. cubed ham Combine water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper in a large Dutch oven. Boil 10 to 12 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, make white sauce by melting the butter. Add flour and stir until smooth. Slowly add milk; cook until thick. Add grated cheese to white sauce. Stir until melted.
