  • butter or margarine - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • 8 oz - 2 c
  • dry mustard - 1 tsp
  • pinch of cayenne pepper - 1 item

How to make cheddar cheese sauce:

Melt butter over medium-low heat in medium saucepan. Stir in flour, salt and cayenne pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; stir in mustard and cheese, stirring until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
