Carrots au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- water - 3 c
- bread crumbs - 1 c
- carrots, peeled and sliced - 3 c
- sharp Cheddar cheese, grated - 1/2 c
- large onion, sliced - 1 item
How to make carrots au gratin:
Cook carrots and onion in boiling salted water for 15 minutes. Drain reserving 2 cups of cooking water. Melt 2 tablespoons butter. Blend in flour; gradually add cooking water, stirring until thick and smooth. Let boil for 2 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted. Arrange vegetables in casserole. Pour sauce over vegetables. Cover with bread crumbs. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Low Carb.
