Ingredients/Components

  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 1 c
  • light brown sugar - 3/4 c
  • margarine, melted - 3/4 c
  • uncooked quick oats - 1 c
  • jar caramel topping - 1 item

How to make carmelitas:

Combine first 6 ingredients in large mixing bowl and beat at low speed until well blended. Spread evenly in ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, thoroughly blend caramel topping with remaining flour. Remove pan from oven. Sprinkle chocolate bits and nuts over baked layer and mixed caramel mixture over all. Bake 20 to 25 minutes more at 350°.

Remove from oven and immediately decorate top with chocolate bits and whole pecans. Cool and then cut into bars.
