Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- corn syrup - 2 c
- evaporated milk or cream - 2 c
How to make caramels:
Boil sugar and salt until soft ball stage, stirring occasionally. Add the butter and milk gradually so that the mixture does not stop boiling. Boil until it forms a hard ball in water, stirring constantly. Pour in pan and add vanilla. To the recipe, add 1 cup nuts and 1 cut dates, if desired.Recipe categories: Desserts, Candy, American.
