Caramel popcorn



  • packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • freshly popped corn - 4 qt
  • each butter or margarine and corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • each vanilla and baking soda - 1/2 tsp

How to make caramel popcorn:

Put popcorn in large shallow roasting pan. In heavy saucepan mix sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt. Stir over medium heat until boiling. Continue boiling without stirring 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and soda. Pour over popcorn, stir to coat well. Bake in preheated 250° oven 1 hour, stirring several times. Cool, break apart and store in tightly covered container.
