Caramel popcorn



  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • white corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • popped popcorn - 8 qt
  • sticks butter or margarine - 2 item
  • pinch cream of tartar - 1 item

How to make caramel popcorn:

Melt sugar, syrup and butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil 5 minutes and remove from heat. Add soda, salt and tartar. Mix quickly. Pour over popcorn and mix thoroughly. Place in 2-inch deep pan and bake at 200° for 1 hour. Turn out on wax paper and cool. Break apart and store in tightly closed container.
