  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • stick margarine - 1/2 item
  • butter - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • finely chopped nuts - 1 c
  • sifted plain flour - 3 c
  • box light brown sugar - 1 item
  • box 4x sugar - 1/2 item
  • Gradually add granulated sugar

How to make caramel nut pound cake:

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar thoroughly. Gradually add granulated sugar. Continue creaming; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift baking powder and salt with flour. Add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla and nuts. Blend well. Turn batter into well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 325° for 90 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 15 minutes before turning out.Frosting For Caramel Nut Pound Cake:1 c. nuts, chopped and toasted in butter1/2 stick margarine1/2 box 4x sugar1 tsp. vanilla Add milk to make spreading consistency. Mix all thoroughly and spread on warm cake.
