  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1/2 lb
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • large eggs - 5 item
  • chopped pecans or walnuts - 1 c
  • box light brown sugar - 1 item

How to make caramel nut pound cake:

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar, a little at a time. Beat well. Add granulated sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each; beat 3 minutes. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in tube pan for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325°.
