Caramel french toast
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- cinnamon
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk
- butter or margarine - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- eggs, beaten - 4 item
- firmly packed brown sugar
- margarine - 1/4 c
- plus 2 Tbsp - 1/4 c
- slices French bread - 10 item
How to make caramel french toast:
Combine brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes or until bubbly. Pour syrup into bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch glass baking dish. Arrange bread slices over syrup.Combine eggs, milk, vanilla and salt. Beat until mixed. Gradually pour over French bread slices. Cover and chill at least 8 hours.
When ready to bake, combine cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle over French bread. Drizzle melted butter over top. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes, until brown and bubbly.
