Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- cup butter or margarine - 1/2 item
- cup granulated sugar - 1 item
- cup dry roasted peanuts - 1 item
- boxes Ritz Bits crackers - 2 9
- cup light karo syrup - 1/2 item
How to make caramel crackers:
Preheat oven to 250°. Combine crackers and nuts in a large bowl. In a sauce pan, bring butter, sugar, and corn syrup to a boil and cook 5 minutes.Remove from heat, add vanilla and soda. Pour caramel mixture over crackers and nuts. Mix well.
Bake one hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Pour onto wax paper and break apart. Allow to cool. Store in air tight container.
Yield, about 9 cups of snack mix.
