Caramel corn



  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • margarine - 1 tsp
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • light Karo syrup - 1/4 c
  • light or dark molasses - 1/4 c

How to make caramel corn:

Mix the syrup, molasses, sugar, vinegar, salt and margarine in a 2-quart saucepan. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil over a medium heat. Boil gently until the mixture reaches the hard crack stage (290° on a candy thermometer). Add the soda and mix well. Pour the foamy mixture over 6 to 8 cups of popped popcorn. Stir well as you pour the mixture on the corn.
