Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- oleo - 1/2 c
- dark syrup - 1/4 c
- pretzels - 1 c
- mixed nuts - 1 c
- Chex cereal - 8 c
How to make caramel chex mix:
In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, melt oleo and stir in sugar, syrup and salt. Bring to a boil; keep stirring. Boil 5 minutes, without stirring. Remove from heat. Stir in baking soda and vanilla. Pour over cereal mixture and mix well until evenly coated.Put in microwave for 6 minutes on High, stirring every 2 minutes. Put on waxed paper and break apart when cool. Freezes beautifully in Ziploc bags.
