Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- sour cream - 1 c
- butter or margarine - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- rum extract - 1 tsp
- sugar, divided
How to make caramel cake:
Caramel Frosting:3 c. sugar, divided1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1 c. milk3/4 c. butter or margarine1 tsp. vanilla Combine sour cream and milk; set aside. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs one at a time; beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream mixture; beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans; bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans; cool. Spread caramel frosting between layers and on tops and sides.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Comfort food.
