Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • vanilla - 1 item
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 3/4 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • egg whites - 6 item
  • sweet milk - 3/4 c
  • butter size of egg - 1 item
  • sugar scant - 2 c

How to make caramel cake:

Icing:2 1/2 c. sugar1 c. sweet milk butter (size of egg) Combine butter and sugar; cream well. Add flour and milk alternately; beat well. Fold in egg whites that have been beaten stiff, then vanilla. Add baking powder at the last. Makes 2 layers. Cook in moderate oven.

Caramel Icing: Heat ingredients to boil. Brown 1/2 cup sugar until all sugar is melted. Add to the other mixture. Cook until ready to spread.
