Caramel apple oat squares
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 oz
- quick oats uncooked - 1 c
- cold margarine - 1 c
- caramels unwrapped - 20 item
- can apple pie filling or topping - 1 oz
How to make caramel apple oat squares:
Preheat oven to 375°. In large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix well and cut in margarine until crumbly. Reserving 1 1/2 cups of mixture, press remainder into bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 15 minutes.In saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels in condensed milk, stirring until smooth. Spoon apple filling over crust; top with caramel mixture and the rest of the crumbs. Bake about 20 minutes or until set. Cool slightly. Serve with ice cream.
