Candy cane cookies



  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour
  • almond extract
  • egg - 1 item
  • soft butter - 1 c

How to make candy cane cookies:

Mix thoroughly together the first 5 ingredients. Sift together flour and salt and stir in. Divide into 2 halves. Blend into one-half of dough, 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring. Roll 1 teaspoon each color dough into a strip, about 4 inches long. Place strips, side by side; press lightly together and twist like a rope.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Curve top to handle of cane. Bake about 9 minutes at 375°. Sprinkle with sugar.
