Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- water - 1 c
- light corn syrup - 2/3 c
- red cinnamon candies - 1/4 c
How to make candied apples:
Create a syrup of 2 cups sugar, 2/3 cup corn syrup and water. Add cinnamon candies for color and flavor. Stir mixture until dissolved. Boil and simmer, covered, for 3 minutes. Uncover and cook to just under the hard crack stage. Keep pan over warm water.Place apples on sticks and dip. Roll fruit in chopped nuts, granola, coconut, chopped peanut brittle or any topping of your choice. Place apples upside-down on oiled tray to dry. Makes 5 medium size apples.
For caramel apples: Melt 1 pound caramel pieces or chocolate caramel pieces (per 5 apples) over a double boiler or in a microwave oven; dip.
