Calico beans
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- dry mustard - 1 Tbsp
- diced onion - 1/2 c
- can pork and beans - 1 oz
- ketchup - 1/2 c
- lean ground beef - 1/2 lb
- can kidney beans, drained - 1 lb
- bacon, diced - 1/2 lb
- can butter beans, drained - 1 lb
How to make calico beans:
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook bacon for 1 minute. Add beef and onion and cook, stirring with fork to break up meat, until the beef is browned. Drain off grease. Add ketchup, sugar, brown sugar, dry mustard, salt and vinegar, stirring and blending. Spoon the mixture into a 3-quart casserole dish and add remaining ingredients, stirring lightly to blend.
