Cake mix

Ingredients/Components

• granulated sugar - 8 c
• salt - 1 Tbsp
• flour
• baking soda - 1/3 c
• shortening - 3 c

How to make cake mix:

Stir flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large pan. (A dishpan is good.) Sift 3 times. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender, fingertips, or a detachable mixer at low speed. (Shortening must be blended uniformly.) Store in covered container at room temperature.

To measure mix for recipes, pile lightly into cup and level with spatula. When you use the mix, have all ingredients at room temperature.
