Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- medium onion, diced - 1 item
- carrots, sliced - 6 item
- tomatoes - 2 qt
- sausage - 1 lb
- small head cabbage, chopped - 1 item
- salt, pepper and basil to taste - 1 item
How to make cabbage soup:
Brown sausage and drain well. Put vegetables to cook with water to cover. Simmer until nearly tender. Add sausage, tomatoes and seasonings and simmer 20 to 30 minutes to blend flavors. You may omit sugar and put a packet of sweetener into individual bowls. Serves 10 to 12.Can be halved easily.
