Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 1 c
- cold water - 1 qt
- boiling water - 1 qt
- vinegar - 3 c
- onions, chopped - 4 item
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- mustard seed - 1 tsp
- carrots, sliced thin - 1 lb
- heads cabbage, shredded - 2 item
- sweet peppers, diced mix red and green - 8 item
How to make cabbage salad:
Syrup To Cover Vegetables:5 c. sugar3 c. vinegar1 c. water1 tsp. celery seed1 tsp. mustard seed Cover cabbage, carrots, onions and peppers with boiling water and salt. Cover and let stand 1 hour; drain. Rinse with cold water and drain.Combine all syrup ingredients together until sugar dissolves; pour over vegetables. Keeps well in refrigerator in covered jar.
