How to make cabbage rolls:

Remove cabbage core with sharp knife and scald in hot water. Remove a few leaves at a time and trim thick ridge from back of leaves to make it easier for rolling. Saute onion in butter until transparent. Combine onion with the meat, rice, egg and seasonings and mix well.

Spread mixture in the thick end of cabbage. Fold the opposite side and roll. Fasten with toothpick. Place rolls in a buttered dish and cover with the small leaves. Top with sauerkraut and diluted soup. Bake, covered, at 325° for 2 hours or until brown and tender.
