Cabbage rolls



Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- water
- lemon juice - 3 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- ground beef - 1 lb
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- minced parsley - 1 tsp
- thinly sliced onion - 1 c
- uncooked rice - 1/3 c
- large cabbage leaves - 6 item
How to make cabbage rolls:
Mix together ground beef, salt, pepper and egg. Mix in the rice. Cook cabbage leaves in boiling salt water until just tender. Drain.For the sauce, melt butter in a skillet. Add onion and cook until tender. Blend in a mixture of tomato soup and water. Add celery, parsley, lemon juice, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.
To stuff cabbage leaves, place about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture on center of each leaf. Roll up ends in toward center. Use toothpicks to secure ends, if necessary. Place rolls in a large heavy skillet. Pour sauce over rolls. Cover pan tightly and cook slowly for 2 hours. Serve immediately. Serves 6.
