Cabbage casserole
Ingredients/Components
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- Velveeta cheese, cubed - 8 oz
- butter, divided - 6 Tbsp
- dry bread crumbs - 1/4 c
- large head cabbage, shredded - 1 item
- can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted - 1 item
How to make cabbage casserole:
Cook cabbage in salted water until tender; drain. In a large skillet, saute onions in 3 tablespoons butter until tender. Add soup and mix well. Add cheese; heat and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper. Transfer to ungreased 2-quart baking dish. In small skillet, melt remaining butter. Cook and stir crumbs in butter until lightly browned. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 20 minutes, until heated through. Makes 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, Ground beef.
