Ingredients/Components

  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • lean ground beef - 1 lb
  • beef bouillon cubes - 4 item
  • can kidney beans undrained - 1 oz
  • chopped, fresh parsley - 1 item
  • celery stalks, chopped - 2 item
  • medium head cabbage, chopped - 1/2 item
  • tomato can water - 1 item
  • can tomatoes, chopped liquid reserved - 1 oz

How to make cabbage and beef soup:

In a Dutch oven, brown beef. Add all remaining ingredients except parsley; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Garnish with parsley. Yields 3 quarts.

Note: If cooking for two, soup can be frozen in serving-size portions to enjoy months later.
