Butterscotch torte
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- water - 1/4 c
- egg whites, beaten stiff - 6 item
- almond extract - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- powdered sugar - 4 Tbsp
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- orange juice - 1/4 c
- chopped nuts if desired - 1 c
- Mix well
- egg yolks, well beaten - 6 item
- rolled graham crackers - 2 c
How to make butterscotch torte:
Combine egg yolks, vanilla, almond extract, sugar, salt and baking powder. Mix well. Add graham crackers. Fold in egg whites. Add chopped nuts. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes in 9 x 13-inch greased pan.Topping:1 pt. whipping cream4 Tbsp. powdered sugar1/4 c. butter1 Tbsp. flour1/4 c. water1/4 c. orange juice1 egg, well beaten1 c. brown sugar1 tsp. vanilla Add powdered sugar to whipping cream. Whip and set aside. Melt butter and add remaining ingredients. Cook until thick, 5 to 7 minutes. Cool and spread cooled torte with whipped cream. Cover cream with topping and swirl into cream.
