Ingredients/Components
- milk
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter - 1 tsp
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- dark brown sugar - 1 c
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- sugar per egg white - 2 Tbsp
- Add milk and cook until thickens
How to make butterscotch pie:
Blend together sugar, flour and salt. Add milk and cook until thickens. Just before removing from stove, stir in egg yolks (save whites for meringue). Add butter. Pour into a baked pie shell.Meringue:3 egg whites2 Tbsp. sugar (per egg white)1/4 tsp. cream of tartar Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until thick. Add sugar. Just before you finish, add 1 tablespoon powdered sugar. Beat in whites, will keep egg whites from being grainy. Bake at 325° slowly until brown.
