Butterscotch pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 Tbsp
- flour - 1/3 c
- eggs, separated - 2 item
- vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
- dash of cream of tartar - 1 item
- margarine - 3 Tbsp
- brown sugar, packed - 1 c
- milk, scalded - 2 c
- dash of vanilla - 1 item
- Meringue:2 egg whites
How to make butterscotch pie:
Meringue:2 egg whites4 Tbsp. sugar dash of cream of tartar dash of vanilla Beat meringue ingredients until stiff and put on pie.Mix together brown sugar and flour with milk, that has been scalded in top of a double boiler. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Beat egg yolks and add to the mixture. Continue to cook and stir constantly until thick. Remove from heat. Add margarine and vanilla. Put in baked pie shell. Top with meringue. Bake at 350° until light brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
