  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts optional - 1 c
  • sifted flour - 3 c
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp
  • butter or other shortening - 1 c

How to make butterscotch cookies:

Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into creamed mixture. Add nuts. Form dough into rolls 1 1/2-inches in diameter and wrap in waxed paper. Chill in refrigerator. Cut dough into slices and arr
