  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3/4 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts optional - 1/2 c

How to make butterscotch brownies:

Stir flour and baking powder together. Melt butter and brown sugar over low heat. Stir in slightly beaten egg; blend in dry ingredients, mixing well. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in a greased and floured 8-inch square pan in a slow oven (300°) for 25 to 35 minutes. Cut while warm.
