- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
How to make buttermilk pound cake:
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely on a rack. Yield: One 10-inch cake.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, For large groups.
