Buttermilk brownies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- vanilla extract - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- sticks margarine - 2 item
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
How to make buttermilk brownies:
Combine 1 stick margarine, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1 cup water in saucepan. Bring to a boil; mix well. Pour over mixture of flour, sugar and salt in bowl. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, eggs, soda and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 10 x 15-inch baking pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.Combine remaining 1 stick margarine, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk in saucepan. Bring to a boil; blend well. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients; mix until creamy. Spread on hot brownies. Cool. Cut in squares.
