  • sugar - 2 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • sticks margarine - 2 item
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item

How to make buttermilk brownies:

Combine 1 stick margarine, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1 cup water in saucepan. Bring to a boil; mix well. Pour over mixture of flour, sugar and salt in bowl. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, eggs, soda and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 10 x 15-inch baking pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

Combine remaining 1 stick margarine, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk in saucepan. Bring to a boil; blend well. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients; mix until creamy. Spread on hot brownies. Cool. Cut in squares.
