  • buttermilk - 2/3 c
  • self-rising flour - 2 c
  • Crisco - 6 Tbsp

How to make buttermilk biscuits:

Preheat oven to 450°. Measure flour and run through sifter. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Knead shortening with hands into mixture. Pour in milk and knead until dough is soft and puffy. Roll dough out to 1/2-inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes approximately 10 biscuits.
