Ingredients/Components

  • cups all purpose flour - 2 item
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cup Crisco - 1/4 item
  • cup buttermilk - 3/4 item

How to make buttermilk biscuits:

In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in Crisco until mixture is coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk. Knead dough gently. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 450 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 10 biscuits.

Note: To sour milk if you don't have buttermilk, add 1 tsp. vinegar to milk.
