Buttermilk biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- cups all purpose flour - 2 item
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cup Crisco - 1/4 item
- cup buttermilk - 3/4 item
How to make buttermilk biscuits:
In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in Crisco until mixture is coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk. Knead dough gently. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 450 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 10 biscuits.Note: To sour milk if you don't have buttermilk, add 1 tsp. vinegar to milk.
