Burnt sugar cake



Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- cold water - 1 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- white sugar - 3 Tbsp
How to make burnt sugar cake:
Put 3 tablespoons of white sugar in a heavy frying pan (iron skillet works great) and burn to a real dark brown, stirring all the time. Remove from fire and immediately add the boiling water. Let this cool before using in cake.Cream the 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter. Add yolks of eggs and burnt sugar. Beat together. Add the cold water, flour, baking powder and vanilla. Last, stir in beaten egg whites. Bake at 350° until tested done.
