Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 1 qt
  • butter, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • frozen corn - 16 oz
  • large onion, sliced - 1 item
  • large potatoes, cubed - 2 item
  • dash red pepper - 1 item
  • large chicken, cut up - 1 item
  • tomatoes canned - 28 oz
  • slices bacon, cut - 2 item
  • butter beans frozen - 10 oz

How to make brunswick stew:

In a 5-quart heavy pot, stew chicken, water, bacon, onion and salt for 2 hours over medium low heat. Remove chicken; cool, skin and remove meat from bones. Cut into medium size pieces. Return to pot. Add remaining ingredients, except corn; cook 1/2 hour. Add corn and cook 1/2 hour. Mix butter and flour; add to stew and simmer 1/2 hour.
