  • milk
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 2 Tbsp
  • butter or margarine, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 3 Tbsp
  • dried basil, crushed - 1/2 tsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • 16-oz - 1 pkg
  • 3-oz - 2 pkg
  • soft bread crumbs about 1 slice of bread - 3/4 c

How to make broccoli-cauliflower casserole:

Cook broccoli and cauliflower according to package directions. Drain well; place in large saucepan and set aside. Meanwhile, cook onion in the butter until tender but not brown. Stir in the flour, salt, garlic powder, basil and pepper. Add milk. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Add cream cheese. Stir till cheese melts. Stir into vegetable mixture. Turn into a 2-quart casserole. Toss together bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and the 2 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle over vegetable mixture. Bake, uncovered, in a 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till heated through. Makes 12 servings.
