Broccoli and cauliflower salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- nuts optional - 1 item
- salad dressing
- wine vinegar - 1/2 c
- can water chestnuts - 1 item
- Cheddar cheese - 1 c
- bacon - 1/2 lb
- head cauliflower - 1 item
- bunch broccoli - 1 item
- red onion or bunch green shallots - 1 item
How to make broccoli and cauliflower salad:
Dressing:3/4 c. salad dressing1/2 c. wine vinegar1/3 c. sugar nuts (optional) Cut broccoli and cauliflower florets into bite size pieces (only use stem parts if tender). Chop onion fine and sliver water chestnuts. Mix dressings, vinegar and sugar until smooth and add to vegetables. (Vegetables are more flavorful if prepared the day before.) Fry or microwave bacon until crisp. (I like thick slice pepper bacon.) Cube cheese of your choice (Cheddar adds color). Prepare bacon and cheese and add just before serving.
