  • sugar - 2/3 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • stick cinnamon - 1 item
  • medium cooking apples - 6 item
  • or 3 whole cloves - 2 item
  • lemon, cut with peel on - 1/2 item

How to make breakfast apples:

Combine all ingredients except apples; bring to a boil. Pare apples, core, cut in eights and add to syrup. Cook slowly until done, 5 to 8 minutes. Remove from heat and cool in syrup. Remove spices and lemon. Serves 4.
