Bread pudding
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 1 qt
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- cornstarch
- raisins - 1/2 c
- butter, melted - 3 Tbsp
- rum - 2 oz
- fresh milk - 1 c
- bread cubes, toasted - 4 c
- Scald milk in saucepan
- or 4 drops yellow food coloring - 3 item
How to make bread pudding:
Combine bread cubes and raisins in buttered casserole. Scald milk in saucepan. In separate bowl, combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, butter and salt. Mix this and milk together. Mix well and pour over bread cubes. Set casserole in pan and pour hot water in pan around casserole, about 1-inch deep of water. Bake at 325° about 1 hour or until butter knife inserted comes out clean. Serve with Rum Sauce.Rum Sauce:1 c. Pet milk1 c. fresh milk1 c. sugar1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch3 Tbsp. butter2 oz. rum3 or 4 drops yellow food coloring In a double boiler, put milk, sugar and butter. When hot, dissolve cornstarch in a little water. Add to hot milk. Stir until thick. Remove from heat. Add rum and food coloring. Delicious!
