Ingredients/Components
- cucumbers, sliced - 4 lb
- sliced onions - 2 lb
- vinegar - 3 c
- canning salt - 1/3 c
- sugar - 2 c
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- turmeric - 2 tsp
- ginger - 1 tsp
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- peppercorns - 1 tsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Combine cucumber and onion slices in large bowl. Layer with salt; cover with ice cubes. Let stand 1 1/2 hours; drain and rinse. Place remaining ingredients in large pot; bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers and onions. Process 10 minutes in hot water canning bath.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
